(You're) Having My Baby

Perpetrator: Paul Anka
Highest chart position: #1, 1974
Sap Elements: Smugness, "Ewww" factor, love (nominally)

This song has ranked high on sap lists since its release. The title really says it all; the use of the pronoun "my" in place of, say, "our" instantly reveals the self-centeredness of the singer. For all the concern he shows, he might as well be singing to a mechanical womb. The song scores bonus "Ewww" points for its unsubtle abortion reference. Where did they find a woman to sing the frankly worshipful lyrics? Had she no self-respect?
